Say if I have a Windows Mobile 5 on my PDA. Then, I upgraded it to Windows Mobile 6. If I have made a REGULAR backup in WM5, it would/should not work in WM6. Because it is replacing all of the Windows Mobile files, and the registry values. So, there is an alternative. We could always use a backup software that has an upgrade feature (made by a different company wink ), OR, Anton can put a feature in his program to backup only the applications. For example, I want to back up Virtual Explorer. I click on the button that activates this control, and then I can look for Virtual Explorer in the list. This would back all of the registry keys for Virtual Explorer, and as well of files of VE. This could create a ZIP file, or just a folder you can put any where on the device. Probably a storage card… Then, if you would restore this backup in an upgrade/update of Windows Mobile, the device would not operate differently than before; you will only have another application installed!

You can always make a backup feature that backups the whole device too, but with the above option.

This feature would help me a whole bunch. I am still looking for an application that can do this. And I hope you will be the one to create it for me, and a lot of other people too!

Hey Taylor,
Wizcode is working on a backup application at the moment. We are making the fastest and safest backup program that has more features than any other application currently on the market. One of those features is the “Application data” backup. We still don’t have a deadline for the beta but I will make sure to post it in our blog as soon as we are prepared for beta testing.

Thanks Anton!

That is great news that you are working on that feature!
