This is driving me crazy.  I previously had Pocket Mechanic installed on the storage card of my iMate Jasjar.  I then tried to install the newer version over the top. It said it couldn’t uninstall the old version and did I want to proceed anyway.  I said yes and chose install to Storage Card.  The install process started then stopped saying “Anton Tomov Pocket Mecahnic” cannot be installed.

I then tried installing to the device itself, but that failed with the same message.  There is plenty of space for installation on both the storage card and the device.  I’ve followed the instructions for manual uninstall and deleted the folders from the installs on both the storage card and the device.  It sill won’t install.  I’ve even tried a restart on the device but that also made no difference. Can anyone shed any light on a fix for this.

BTW I’ve tried this with both the WM5 cab file and the WM5 desktop installer with identical results.

Welcome to the forums! So far we had a few reports of a similar issue but unfortunately we were not able to reproduce it on any of our devices. The .CAB files are pretty standard and the only thing that comes to my mind as a possible reason for the failure is a corrupted application manager on your device.

If the backup-hard reset-restore solution is not an option for you then you could try to install the application manually. In order to do that you need the precompiled WM5 binaries (please contact me by email or PM to get that):

1. Create the application folder on your device (\Program Files\Anton Tomov\Pocket Mechanic, \Storage Card\Anton Tomov\Pocket Mechanic etc)
2. Copy the precompiled binary (Pocket Mechanic.exe) there
3. Create a folder named FSCRules and copy the .fsc files there
4. Optionally create a folder named Sounds and copy the .wav files there
5. Start the application and answer yes to the question whether to create a shortcut to the application in the start menu
