Dear Journal Bar beta tester,
We are happy to announce that beta testing for Journal Bar Symbian has finally started. We had to postpone the initial deadline because of dramatic design changes in the code that were necessary to provide first class architecture of the design and robust and small footprint code. Please accept our apologies for the delay. We at Wizcode hope you won’t be disappointed by our decision.
Beta testing of Journal Bar Symbian will commence in several stages. First we would like to start testing of our current code for Symbian UIQ 2. After we gather the initial feedback and stabilize the code completely we will release the UIQ 3 version. If everything goes as planned this should happen in about a week.
You are encouraged to download the current alpha version of Journal Bar Symbian for UIQ 2 here.
Please note that this is a release for UIQ 2 devices only. It won’t run in UIQ 3 or S60 devices. We will provide separate builds for other Symbian versions shortly.
Below is a description of the current state of this build and a list of the currently known issues:
Working modules:
1) Weather
2) Stocks
3) News -> old Look & feel (to be changed for the next version)
4) Auto-update for Weather and Stocks (disabled for the New module= in this version)
Work in progress:
1) News – change the design
2) Links
3) General look & feel – redesign of the top screen to place a progress bar (80% done)
Known bugs:
1) Wrong GMT offset for some cities (research in progress)
2) Slow load time
3) When cradle connection is missing - uses the GPRS connection (if set to not ask for network activity) without any warnings
Do not hesitate to send all negative feedback and comments.
Thank you for helping us test this product!
Yours,
Symbian development team @ Wizcode
