Hi,

I just wanted to give a short description about my first impressions about my new trial, to use Virtual Explorer (which is what I am doing every time whenever there is a new version since I wrote a review for wm-user.de in January 2007)… I installed it directly to the device (MDA Ameo, WM6 GER)

+ the look is still nice and elegant
+ the explorer is quite fast (although it needs some time to “colelct” the personalized icons)
but there are still several (some of them IMHO rather major) gaps (this list is incomplete)
- it is still not possible to edit/ manage the favorites in “Navigate”
- there is no way to define a standard folder that will regularly opened from VE
- there is no deifference between the views: vertical browser & horizontal browser
- I miss back/ forward icons/ keys
- the sorting by “type” still does not work
- the program is not “finger friendly” or is even using the soft menus of WM5/6

of course this list is not complete, and of course I am absolutely willing to go on trying to make VE my standard explorer:) ... which it is not now

Hello Shrek3k,

thank you for your comments (not only for the good words but for the list of missing items too).

We are going to release a new version in the next few days with bug-fixes and improvements (the types sorting, the toolbars default status etc).

About the finger-friendly interface - I think there is no existing software which truly covers that requirement (except the HTC TouchFlo3D probably but it is not an advanced explorer). We have some ideas in that direction and I hope we will show them soon.

thanks a lot for this informations and your kindness!
I am really looking forward for the next update, and for the ideas, that will come with next versions, especially as VE included from the beginning on some really nice, fresh and new ideas.

first a note: the Virtual Explorer has an option (under “Edit | Settings | General") “Remember last opened folder” which is the answer of your comment:

- there is no way to define a standard folder that will regularly opened from VE

About the current code changes - we are going to release the new version which is mostly bug-fixing and then switch back to the major update.

thanks, I already installed it, and made a short test (concentrating on “my list” )
On my device (everything works as listed in the log )…
1. sorting by type works absolutely perfect
2. Navigate still can´t be edited
3. there is still no difference between “Vertical Browser” and “Horizontal Browser”

your developement speed is quite impressive at the moment!!!

P.S.: @Vasil - thanks for your hint (“Remember last opened folder”), but as I am quite often searching with the help of the explorer (which might be the reason for such a kind of program ) there would always be opend different folders, but I would prefer to make it open alwyas the same place (at the beginneing), as this is the place where I have saved most files (which is a folder on the MicroDrive of the Ameo)

Indeed we need to work on the navigation bookmarks a bit more and we will prepare another even better release next week. The current one had more high priority items to be fixed in terms of stability and Vasil did a fine a job on that (as always).

I completely agree about his successful work in this step!
