Hi, are there near term plans to offer support for the Qualcomm MSM7500, 400 MHz processor of the HTC touch in Hack Master?
It says “...does not support your processor” and the Speed Configuration module is not there.
And Handago list my device as a compatible one. :(
I can’t find any over clocking software that support my device.

Hi aemond,
We do plan to support the Qualcomm CPU but the progress is very slow because there is virtually no developer documentation available for that chipset.

If it may help:

MSM7500 layout: http://web.archive.org/web/20061102061650/http://www.cdmatech.com/download_library/pdf/msm7500_chipset.pdf
So it’s an all in one with dual core processors ARM11 36J(F)-S 400mhz and ARM9 26EJ-S 274mhz.
Knowing that, documentation should be easier to find:

ARM11 is the same as the one in Zune and similar to IPhone.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ARM_architecture
http://www.arm.com/products/CPUs/ARM1136JF-S.html

Base instruction set: http://infocenter.arm.com/help/topic/com.arm.doc.qrc0001l/QRC0001_UAL.pdf
Extended instruction set: http://www.arm.com/pdfs/ARM-DSP.pdf

And so on…

Also there is a GPS and WIFI software disabled in that device. If someone could do a patch to unlock it, that could be a bestseller. I personally would pay 100$+ for it.

Thank you for the links! I will have a look and will post later on whether they contain sufficient information for our development to continue.

i know this topic has been discussed a lot, but there is a question that has also been asked a lot that has never been answered.

i was just wondering if there was any way we could get a loose time frame for the update to Pocket Hack Master supporting the qualcomm 7500 chipsets?

also if there is any way us users can help out, feel free to let us know, im sure every single person would be more than willing to help as these devices arent all that snappy.  im personally dying for your program to support my Vogue.

i assume you have attempted “googling” for developer documentation on the chipset and have contacted qualcomm?
if not, let us know, and we can start a searching frenzy to get this moving!

thanks a lot for your hard work, jim.

Hi Jim,
I know it is quite frustrating for you because you are not able to monitor the progress of the project so starting from february 1st we will create a special section in our developer blog where we will keep you informed on the progress of the research and implementation needed to complete the MS7500 support . Currently we are still reviewing the documentation we have found. We also took an important decision which is start working on Hack Master 5 instead of patching the old v4. This is needed if we want to support more CPUs and have a stable product. The good news is we already have nearly 75% of the code in our framework so the first builds of v5 will be available in late February / early March.

wow that really is great news.  Definitely excited about that.  keeping us updated on the blog is a great idea; thanks for understanding where im coming from.

i will really keep an eye out then, hope to be running it on my vogue within the next month!

GREAT news, thanks a lot and keep up the hard work!

ps.

The good news is we already have nearly 75% of the code in our framework so the first builds of v5 will be available in late February / early March.

so will these first builds ^^ of v5 be expected to support the 7500? or will we have to wait longer for other, specific builds of v5 for 7500 support?
THANKS.

jim.

How much will number 5 be? I’m really excited about this build and the prospect of being able to scale my ppc. I use the HTC touch bell (aka. htc vougue, 3050) with the qualicom chipset. If you were able to unlock the gps too I would be a very happy customer. I would have to start saving my pennies for this asap!! I’m subcribing o the rss for this site so I get the news promptly. Thanks Anton.

Cool, can’t wait!

I’m glad to see you haven’t left the PDA development world, Anton smile
