We are happy to announce the change log of the new Pocket Mechanic Professional v2.70. The new version is a major new update and we strongly recommend updating to the new version if you are running an older build of the application. Updates are free for registered users. The new version can be downloaded from our server.

Below is the change log of the new v2.70 of Pocket Mechanic Professional:

• Added separate WM6 build of Pocket Mechanic Professional that is compiled with the Windows Mobile 6 SDK. We recommend using this build on WM6 devices. The new WM6 installer and .CAB file can be downloaded from our Downloads section.

• The Windows Mobile 2003/SE version is now built with VS2005 using the WM2003 SDK instead of eMbedded Visual Tools 4. This should improve compatibility with all WM2003 devices and resolve any issues that were caused by differences between the MFC libraries used in the two SDKs.

• Fixed two debug asserts caused by invalid window handles when OnSize message handler is first called.

• Changed the menu handling code. We used to have different versions of the menu code for pre-WM5 and WM5 devices before. The menu code is the same for all builds now.

• Updated CFSCleanup, the class that handles the file system cleanup enumeration. The new implementation was borrowed from our new Wizcode Mobile Upkeeper product. New features include file/folder filtering by age (quite useful for cache/temporary file cleanup), more macro definitions, improved stability, bug fixes and absolute folder matches (before folder rules had to specify the full folder name but now with the new specification the folder rules can be relative - for example rule "\Temp" will only include the folder "\Temp" but a rule "Temp" will include all "Temp" folders).

• Updated all cleanup rule sets and added 9 new ones. Now the file system cleanup module is able to clean much more system junk. The current file system cleanup rule sets are:

• Added age and last access columns in the File System cleanup module list.

• New Safe Mode feature. The old Safe Mode was causing issues on some devices so the new implementation is much less aggressive, it only disables today plug-ins when the device is rebooted in Safe Mode. By default Safe Mode is turned off but it can be enabled by going to Edit->Settings->Safe Mode.

• Added additional warning messages when attempting to delete a notification queue entry that is not a duplicate. Many users do not pay attention to the first warning and therefore tend to delete critical notifications. Now with the additional warnings the risk of doing something wrong should be minimized.

• Implemented the launcher Show section.The following options are available: Small icons, Large icons, List (default), Report.

• Implemented the shortcut section of the module launcher. Currently the following shortcuts are in this section: Free RAM, Clean up system junk, Check for duplicate notifications, Relocate applications and data, Uninstall applications, Format storage card, Scan storage card, Defragment storage card.

• Implemented WM5 style (soft key) menus for WM5 and WM6 devices.
